I was mad into the Tekken games from a young age I played them a lot and when I heard Tekken six was coming out for the 360 I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it but I found the game a big let down and diddent really like it.
The single
player campaign is a mess. They took the scenario mode from the other games and
made it the campaign which I think just wrecked the story completely. They
should have just left it as a different game mode. Every level is exactly the
same you walk for a bit then two to six bad guys appear you kill them and they
drop loot that’s it over and over again. After playing it for a while I simply
just gave up as it was just too tedious and it was sucking the fun out of the
game. Each level only lasts about ten minutes. I found it hard as well not
because I’m a crap player just because the fighting wasn’t one on one you would
be fighting one guy and you would have like two other guys kicking you in the
back of the head and knocking you down.
The game also has a bad loading problem. It takes ages to load everything in the game. Say if you want to play a match you have to wait like one minute to load or you want to customise your character wait like half a min to load. If you want to change the game settings you have to load. It’s ridiculous like the long load times really show the overall problem with the interface itself.
The lag online is
very bad most of the games I play slow down and some of them disconnect leaving
you even more frustrated. It trys to fix it by slowing the game down so if
you’re playing against someone with a bad connection and you have a good one
the game will be slow for both of you. This makes it really bad because your
timeing is off. If you want to play a match online you have to wait for your opponent
to connect which takes a bit then you have to wait again for the vs. screen to
appear and then you have to wait for the match to begin. This all makes it a
slow and tedious experience.
I was a big fan of the side stepping in the other games which helped you to get away from combos and attacks but in Tekken six the side stepping is useless which leaves you with no way of getting out of those combos and leaves you with fifty to seventy percent of your life gong. If you get stuck against a wall or something you’re screwed because there’s no way to escape those mad combos.
The game would only appeal to diehard fans that feel that Namco can do no harm or maybe to button bashers who enjoy mad combos. I think the game falls short and is a clear step back from the other Tekken games. It’s still good crack to play though, punching your mates face in with one of your old favourite characters and using some of the new characters moves like handing your opponent your head and watching it explode in their face one of my favourites.
